ASD relay is a relay controled by the ECU to kill the engine. It is wired in to the injectors, ignition, and fuel pump. It cuts all of them if it wants to kill the engine. Common cause for ASD to be thrown is a bad cam or crank position sensor. But if thats the case, you should have a code.
