Just so you know, the Nest thermostat requires 12 Volt DC if you are fitting it to the supplied back plate (terminals T1 and T2) You only use/need 5V USB power if you are using the stand. You should be OK then just using a hard wired 240V AC to 12 Volt power supply unit fitted (and supported) in the wall cavity.
