Web7 de jan. de 2010 · The purpose of this study was to investigate the sonographic appearance of the normal adult kidney. Parenchymal echogenicity, pyramid visibility, and transverse pelvis diameter of the kidneys were prospectively determined in an age- and sex-stratified random sample of 665 volunteers 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 years old. Webpopulated areas in the city of Karachi, Pakistan. Ultrasound was preformed and blood samples collected from 225 healthy individuals with no known renal pathology and with normal calculated GFR. Results: Mean kidney lengths were 9.85cm (95% CI: 9.74-9.95 cm) on right side and 10.0 cm (9.85-10.1 cm) on left.
