WebJun 2, 2012 · I use Thunderbird every day, in a business environment. Nearly every day for no apparent reason, 30 seconds after succesfully sending a message, the next message attempting to be sent just hangs displaying "attaching". When an email is sent successfully it doesn't even bring up attaching on the progress box. We are using an IMAP setup. WebThunderbird seems to always "hang" when sending emails for both Gmail and Outlook. It turns out that there is actually a solution for this. Click Edit->Account Settings from the file menu. Click Copies & Folders. Untick "Place a copy in:" and ensure no copies are placed anywhere when sending messages as shown below. References
